Why We Built This Site
Michigan gives the public broad access to court records. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. In Clare County the County Clerk, who is also the Register of Deeds, keeps circuit court case files, marriage licenses, vital records, and land records. The 55th Circuit Court hears felony, higher civil, and divorce matters. The 80th District Court handles misdemeanors, traffic, small claims, and landlord-tenant cases. The Probate and Family Court manages estates, wills, guardianships, and conservatorships. The Sheriff runs the county jail and the records division. Add the Michigan State Police criminal history system and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services vital records office, and the picture gets crowded fast. Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
